The quality of elderberry doesn’t start in the lab -
it starts in the field.
An area known as the ‘Green Heart’ of southeast Austria is home to the Styrian Berry Cooperative, founded in 1962 and proud creators of the largest black elderberry (Sambucus nigra, L.) cultivation on earth. Where climate, soil conditions, and agricultural know-how support the natural development of the fruit, 200 contract farmers harvest over 3.500 tons of stellar elderberries each year. Moderate temperatures, sufficient rainfall, and nutrient-rich soils allow the berries to mature slowly and evenly - a key factor for their deep color and complex plant profile.
This close collaboration with STBOG, a structured grower organization that coordinates cultivation, harvesting, and quality standards across farms, helps reduce variability - one of the biggest challenges in botanical ingredients - and ensures reliable quality year after year.
What happens after harvest is just as important as how the berries are grown. That’s why our process is designed to preserve the natural integrity of the fruit:
By keeping every stage within a controlled European network, we ensure high standards, traceability, and product integrity from start to finish.
Many “elderberry” supplements use different sources and processing methods. Standardization helps ensure you get the same key compounds every day - without guessing.
Tip for consumers:
look for “ElderCraft®” on the ingredient list and check the brand’s suggested serving size. So you can trust what you’re taking - every single day.
